Capt. Bo White

Bo fishes for a living. He guides full-time out of Roland & Mary Ann Martin Marina in Clewiston, FL, and most mornings he’s idling out of the canal at daybreak, reading the lake before his anglers ever make a cast. Lake Okeechobee is his home water, and he stays on top of it the way only a guide who’s out there day after day can — where the bait moved, which reed lines are holding fish, how the bite changed after the last front.

His specialty is running live wild shiners for big largemouth, and he’d rather show you why than talk about it. When the specks school up in the cooler months he chases those, and summer means bluegill stacked on the beds. By request, he also runs the big-bass water at Fellsmere and saltwater days down in the Keys.

Trips run on his 23-foot Key West bay boat, up to four anglers at a time, and the day is built around what you want out of it — a wall-hanger largemouth, a limit of specks, or a kid’s first fish. Family charters are Bo’s favorite: Mom, Dad and the kids all on the water together, and nobody watching from the bank. He’ll coach as much or as little as you want, and he’ll tell you straight what the lake is giving up that week.
